Updated Assumptions (Continued)
It is assumed that substantial bandwidth consumers of Internet2 capacity will be billed directly for services. Discussion underway with Tele-Immersion and Bioinformatics.
Penn will buy a fixed amount of Internet2 services from MAGPI starting in FY2003. Current usage levels are running around 60 Mbps. 100 Mbps should be sufficient for FY2003. (I2 slide)
N&T will run a fiscally self-sufficient GigaPoP (MAGPI) and seek to generate revenues of $500k in FY2002 vs $300k in FY2001. MAGPI will increase from 155Mbps to 622 Mbps to accommodate more outside sales and to have potentially more internal bandwidth for Penn if necessary. Profit from MAGPI will be used to lower Pennís Internet2 expenses.
