Sufficient Internet bandwidth, reliability and redundancy are critical. Internet traffic is doubling every six months – cost of bandwidth may relent a bit to soften impact. Supporting expenses are projected to grow at 10% annually from FY2002-2007 for baseline users.
For FY2002 ISC will upgrade the routing core and do an additional 25 Fast Ethernet or possibly Gigabit Ethernet building upgrades for a total of 100 Fast Ethernet connections on campus.
The Central Service Fee (CSF) users will continue to subsidize the 1400 public labs, kiosks and central pool classroom connections in FY2002.
The growth rate in IP addresses from the schools/centers is projected to increase 2400 addresses per year from FY2002-FY2007.
